Our one day trip to Taupo!

It started as we passed through the Desert Road with Mt Ruapehu in the morning cloud….

Mt Ngauruhoe and Tongariro along the Desert Road, Central North Island, New Zealand ๐Ÿ™‚

Some of the many layers ofย  ash deposits from eruptions along the side of the highway.

The sun shining through the clouds… and more rays!!! ๐Ÿ˜›

The shores of Lake Taupo!

Not much of a beach! But a totally awesome place!!

Cool foot path under the autumn leaves of some willows along the lake side ๐Ÿ™‚

Humm… Seagull… ๐Ÿ˜‰

The road around Lake Taupo… nice scenery!

A little volcano around the lake.. the lake is actually over top of the volcano Taupo which had a massive blow up thousand of years ago!!

A little island in the middle of the lake.

The “Gumboot” of the town of Taihape, after the Desert Road on the way back to Wellington… As we passed through the Desert Road it snowed and hailed!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

More beautiful scenery!

Then, as we get home… we find out that we missed out on the snow fall at our house!!! Apparently it didn’t settle, but still… the first now for the year – in late may! ๐Ÿ˜› And that was the end of our long day trip to Taupo and back!! Have a great day everybody ;D

  1. i think i’ve commented before? same old comment: you truly either live in a breath-taking area — & / OR your photos depict the breathtakingness very well. i wuzz stund (yah, stunnneddd) by your sunrise/sunset collexion. AND you’re a musician? no way!

    • haha thanks! and yea i sort of am a musician lol i only write songs by what i feel and expereinces i have had and i play the guitar lol thats about it haha ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog! This is a great post – and it brings me so many memories of my 3 months travel in NZ in 1997 – I spent some days in this area too – waiting for clear weather to watch these great volcanoes!

    • Thanks, I had taken a lot of photos of the clouds so these 6 were the best out of about 25! haha ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. These photos remind me somewhat of Washington State here in the US. I sent several weeks there back in the early Eighties and went all the way across from Seattle to Idaho and loved it. The land scape and weather differences were very amazing to an eighteen year old boy. Thanks for sharing and stopping by mine.

    • Thanks! There are plenty of pictures to take around New Zealand, I certainly took lots on our one day trip! ๐Ÿ˜›
